Covering up your dark circles with even the best concealer doesn’t exactly help to get rid of it. While sleep is excellent for dark circles, here are some great natural remedies for those annoying dark circles under eyes, without spending a ridiculous amount of money on makeup treatments.

#1 Cold tea bags

Eliminate your dark circles with a couple of tea bags as caffeinated tea contains natural tannins that have been known to lighten dark circles. Dip two bags of tea in hot water for about 3 to 5 minutes, preferably chamomile or green tea. Take them out and squeeze out the excess liquid from the bags. Pop them in the fridge for another 10 minutes to chill them. Place one tea bag on each eye for about 15 to 30 minutes. You may use your fingertips to apply gentle pressure to your eyes or gently massage the area around your eyes.

#2 Raw potato

Raw potatoes contain natural bleaching agents like enzymes, starch and vitamin C that can help alleviate dark under-eye circles for brighter, well-rested eyes. Simply grate the raw potato and extract the juice from it. Then soak two cotton balls in the juice. Place them on the dark circles and leave them for 10 minutes. Remove and wash your eyes with cold water.

#3 Sweet almond oil

Sweet almond oil can help replenish and strengthen the skin under the eyes, thanks to a few good fatty acids it contains. Just apply a little amount of sweet almond oil on your under-eye area and gently massage it into the skin. Leave it on overnight and wash it off the next morning.  Or you may layer it with your favourite eye cream with other beneficial ingredients like firming peptides to minimize the appearance of dark circles, puffiness, lines, and wrinkles.

#4 Cucumbers

Cucumber slices contain a high level of vitamin K, which has been proven to play a key role in improving blood circulation and therefore reducing the appearance of under eye circles. If you’re looking for a quicker fix, try soaking two cucumbers in lemon juice for 3 minutes in the fridge. Then place them on your eyes for about 15 minutes. Make sure you avoid getting the lemon juice in your eyes. Rinse your face thoroughly with lukewarm water.
