Tired of using extra layers of mascara and falsies to fake the volume or length of your eyelashes? If you are going for some natural ways to grow long and thick eyelashes, then this is the article for you…

#1 Olive oil

Olive oil works wonder to help improve the length and strength of your lashes. Rich in essential fatty acids and Vitamin E, natural olive oil is widely used to treat thinning and damaged eyelashes.

Steps:

  1. Dip a cotton swab in the olive oil.
  2. Apply the oil along upper and lower lash lines before going to bed.
  3. Leave the oil on overnight and rinse it off in the morning.

#2 Eyelid massage

Massaging your eyelids works in the same way to how a massage works in helping to thicken the hair. Giving your lids a massage improves the blood flow to hair follicles. This will then stimulate the growth of lashes and prevent thinning or breakage of eyelashes.

Steps:

  1. Apply oil, shea butter or eye cream on your eyelids.
  2. Massaging along the lids and lash line in a circular motion gently with fingertips.
  3. Do this twice a day for 5 mins per session.

#3 Eyelash brushing

As strange as it may seem, brushing out your eyelashes is a great way to make them appear longer and to promote growth. It can help get rid of the dirt and clear out clogged pores, encouraging circulation for nutrients to better reach the hair follicles.

Steps:

  1. Prepare an eyelash brush or an old mascara stick that has been cleaned.
  2. Brush your lashes using upward strokes, starting from the roots and up the tips.
  3. Do this twice a day for 3 -5 mins per session.

#4 Vitamins

Make sure your daily diet includes healthy foods that are rich in vitamins to promote lash growth and strength, such as vitamins B, D and E. These vitamins also keep your eyelashes strong enough to withstand the damages that come with the daily use of your favourite mascara or lash curler. Hair growth supplements can be a great addition if you are not getting enough of these vitamins.
