Having trouble with brittle, weak nails? You’ve ditched the acrylics and gels, yet your nails keep splitting and breaking? We’ve got you covered. Follow these easy nail treatments with tips and tricks to get healthier, stronger and prettier nails.

#1 Keep them well oiled

Applying cuticle oil can keep your nails soft, moisturised and strong. Use a few drops to each nail and then massage in for a few minutes for better adsorption. It can increase the circulation around your nails, stimulate nail growth, and restore the health of your nails. Make cuticle oil a part of your daily routine to repair and nourish your dry, brittle nails.

#2 Pick a nail strengthener

Got a problem with soft, thin nails? A good nail strengthener can give your weak and dry nails a boost. Look for key ingredients like keratin, calcium, which work together to rescue split, peeling and even cracking nails. After using it for a few days, your nails for sure become a lot stronger and healthier.

#3 Apply a hand cream after every wash and before bed

Moisturize your hands with hand cream every time you wash your hands and before you go to bed. Remember to wear gloves when you wash dishes as the chemicals in detergents can strip your nails of natural oil and moisture, and avoid soaking nails in hot water. Applying a great thick hand cream over cuticle oil can do wonders to your nails and cuticles.

#4 Try a natural DIY nail treatment

Step things up with an intensive DIY nail treatment.  Many people swear by rubbing their fingers with coconut oil, olive oil, argan oil or avocado oil, to help strengthen and repair brittle nails naturally.

Steps:

  1. Soak your hands in lukewarm water for 5 minutes
  2. Massage the oil into your nail beds and cuticles to get the blood circulating.
  3. Slip on cotton gloves and allow the oil to penetrate for at least 20 minutes.
  4. Wipe the excess oil off hands.
  5. Follow with a rich hand cream to lock in the moisture.
