Acne is a common skin problem in teenagers because of hormone changes. It is marked by clogged pores (both whiteheads and blackheads), painful acne, and hard, deep lumps on different face and body areas. Here are some back-to-school skincare tips for acne-prone skin.

(1) Develop a 10-minute skincare routine

The most important thing for acne-prone skin is establishing a daily skincare regimen. It does not need too complicated. Remove sunscreen or makeup first. Cleanse your face by using an oil-free facial wash to remove oil, dirt, and bacteria to prevent clogged pores and breakouts. Remember not to pick your acne, which will worsen the condition. You can use acne patches and spot treatments to heal the breakouts.

(2) Wear sunscreen

Sunscreen is the best skincare product. Remember to apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or above sunscreen and re-apply every 2 hours to protect your skin from harmful UVA and UVB rays.

(3) A healthy and balanced diet

Food is another key contributor to acne breakouts. Fried and greasy foods are high glycemic foods that negatively impact acne. You should reduce your intake of carbs and sugar which will lead to acne breakouts.

(4) Get enough sleep

Sleep is important for skin health. You require to give enough time for your minds and bodies to take rest and rejuvenate. Lack of sleep leads to the body releasing cortisol. This stress hormone can cause acne breakouts and skin inflammation. At your age, your bodies need at least 9 hours of uninterrupted sleep.
