Do you know which skin type you have? Knowing your skin type is extremely important when it comes to understanding what your specific skin type needs and what skincare products you should be using. The more you know about your own skin, the better approach you can take to help your skin look better. How to identify your skin type? Here are 3 easy ways to find out your skin type.

#1 The Blotting Paper Method

This simple test involves blotting key areas of your face. Gently pat a blotting paper on T-zone, cheeks and jaw area and check how much oil it has picked up.  If there is an excessive amount of oil absorbed, you have oily skin; while if the blotting sheet picks up oil mainly from T-zone area, you probably have normal/combination skin. And if the paper has little or close to nothing on it, you have dry skin.

#2 The Cleansing Method

Wash your face with a mild cleanser thoroughly and pat dry gently. Do not apply any skincare products afterwards. Wait about 30 minutes to see how your skin behaves. If your skin feels dry and tight, you properly have dry skin. And if there is a bit of shine on your T-zone area (forehead, nose), your skin is likely normal/combination. Furthermore, if your skin starts showing oil on T-zone areas plus your cheeks, you most likely have oily skin.

#3 Observation Method

Wash your face as soon as you wake up in the morning. Make sure you don’t put on any skincare products after cleansing. Wait until midday and see how your skin looks in front of a mirror. If you notice your entire face becomes shinier, you should have oily skin; while if not much difference observed, you have normal/combination skin. If you see dry patches or redness, you have dry skin.
